'Tough, but I loved it! This race was brilliant! Magnificent views, friendly marshals, good organisation. We were rewarded at the top of each tough hill or set of steps with lovely scenery, which made it all worthwhile. This is the only race I've finished tired but happy. Even though it took a long time it didn't matter - give it a go! ' Souffle

'My favourite marathon, the toughest and the best. I was thinking about dropping down to the half, but as soon as I saw the views and chatted with a few people I knew I had to finish it again. The support people are great and everyone who runs are friendly' Bring It On

'30 degree heat, big hills and the surf looked good to. The tough ones are the ones we cherish'‘ Godfrey Osbourne

'It was my 50th and hardest marathon to date. The course is without doubt, simply stunning. The views are awesome and this year I had time to take them in! Top marks to Simon and his team for providing us with so many water stations, a real life saver! My feet are sore this morning and my legs aching, but I know I'll be back next year' Chair

'A must-do race. Thanks for the massage team and the cream tea team. I'll be back with a bit more training and more respect for the race' Matt Allen 2

'I did the half last year and decided the I simply had to return. To run the North Devon Marathon is quite simply the hardest thing I have ever experienced as a runner. I believe simply crossing the line regardless of time is a huge achievement and not to be underestimated. Stunning vistas, great atmosphere, amazing camaraderie with fellow runners (Coventry to Devon has to give you some idea of how good this event is surely!) truly special marshals and local supporters' Robert Gaddie

'Please don't change a thing - the perfect trail marathon! The terrain was testing but with plenty of variety including sandy beach, steps, hills, grass and firm trails, muddy stretches and with some road thrown in. This fantastic marathon is brilliantly supported by countless marshals, plenty of water stations (more than sufficient despite the conditions) and expertly marked. At the finish, a marathon medal and rousing support was given. I was helped to a seat, and was brought a cup of tea and something to eat - I must have looked a mess! Well Done to everyone involved. An unforgettable day, and a marathon that has elevated itself to becoming my firm favourite' Grecian 2000

'I thought I'd done hilly marathons before, and maybe it was the heat, but I found this much tougher than previous ones. However, helped by the frequent water stations with the very supportive marshals and friendly fellow runners, I made it to the end. Cream teas and drinks very welcome at the end, and a lovely few hours on the beach and cooling off in the sea. Fantastic day, thank you!' Claire Waters

'Really tough course. I had been training hard for this since January and knew the course would be tough. I wasn't disappointed! However it is all worth it. The views are spectacular, the support was superb, the organisation was faultless and when I started to feel a little faint with a mile to go the marshal who came to help was brilliant' Andrew Nash 3

'Wow ! What a fantastic day. Congratulations to all involved in putting this race on. The scenery was absolutely stunning, but the course was one of the toughest I have ever done, especially the second half. Can't fault the organisation, plenty of water stations and really friendly marshals. Will be recommending this to every one at the club' Crazyrunner

'For me it’s the best event of the year. Wonderful support from all of the marshals. So many water stations. Top race for scenery. Even saw Sammy the Seal sunbathing by the point. North Devon did themselves proud' Mr.K

'An extra special thanks must go to everyone who waited for me to finish the full marathon, I came in last at 7hrs 30mins, having walked for most of the second half of the course. All the marshals were so supportive and encouraging, I can' thank them or the organisers enough' Miserable Bleeder

'Scenery glorious, well marked and marshalled, frequent water stations. Very hot and dusty on the day. Pre race information on website excellent - you knew in advance what you were signing up for (I only did the half)) and I will be back next year!' Old Maid

'The organisers did a great job, laying on extra drink stations . These were also well stocked with jelly babies. Fantastic scenery, but also a really varied run - part coastal path, part woodland and even some beach. Great support from the public, too' wheezyboy
